Following an annual perception survey conducted during the 2021/22 festive season, the Ballito Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) reports that most locals and holidaymakers surveyed said that the thriving resort town is safe, clean and green.
Why do we need the UIP?
The Ballito UIP was established by local commercial property owners in 2014 to combat urban decay, protect property values and deliver an exceptional experience of place for everyone to enjoy.
This is done by delivering supplementary cleaning, greening, maintenance and security services to the area which extends from the N2 through the Ballito Business Park down Ballito Drive incorporating the M4 as far as the Zimbali circle, Compensation Beach Road and the Ballito promenade.
The UIP conducts its annual survey to better understand people’s perceptions of the precinct.
Safe & clean
During the day 98% of respondents said they felt safe or reasonably safe in the precinct while 72% said they felt safe or reasonably safe at night. 15% said the state of public open spaces exceeds expectations while 55% said they are great. 96% of respondents said they would recommend Ballito to family and friends.
About the results Ballito UIP precinct manager Thierry Leclezio says: “This year’s results demonstrate that our team is delivering on its mandate to keep Ballito safe, clean and green. We encourage people who live, work and visit the precinct to please participate in the survey as it’s very useful in helping us understand how we are doing on the ground and what we can do to improve our services.”
