Summer rain brings growth, which also means increased maintenance across the precinct. From pothole repairs and garden upgrades to vegetation management and litter collection, the Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance teams kept Ballito looking its best throughout September.
61 Potholes Repaired Across the Precinct
Road maintenance was a major focus this month, with contractors and UIP teams working to improve driving conditions and address areas of deterioration. Key projects included:
- 8 major potholes repaired
- 53 temporary minor pothole repairs
- 2 manhole covers repaired
6 Gardens Revamped & Indigenous Planting
Greening initiatives continued this month, and the team revamped a total of six gardens in the upper precinct and lower CBD. Other work included planting additional indigenous species, ongoing garden weeding, vegetation pruning and management and alien invasive plant eradication.
5200 Bags Used & Increased Maintenance
Daily cleaning operations continued at scale throughout September. The team used close to 5200 bags for litter collection, bin management and garden refuse removal. Recent rainfall accelerated grass growth across the precinct, requiring increased attention from maintenance teams.
