From clean streets and well-maintained public spaces to visible security patrols, landscaping, infrastructure improvements and community-focused projects, the UIP works behind the scenes, collaborating with the municipality and other stakeholders every day to help keep Ballito clean, safe, attractive and well-managed.
The organisation exists to deliver supplementary services that enhance the precinct and support the long-term success of one of South Africa’s most popular coastal destinations.
What Is the Ballito UIP?
The Ballito Urban Improvement Precinct is a non-profit organisation established by local property owners to provide supplementary services in public spaces throughout the precinct. Working alongside local authorities and strategic partners, the UIP focuses on enhancing the public environment through ongoing cleaning, greening, maintenance, security and urban management initiatives.
What Services Does the Ballito UIP Provide?
The Ballito UIP provides a range of supplementary services across key public areas, including the beachfront, promenade, business park, public open spaces and parts of the CBD. These services include
- Safety & Security: Dedicated security teams patrol the precinct around the clock, supported by vehicles, CCTV technology and close collaboration with SAPS, local authorities and private security partners. During peak periods and the festive season, additional resources are deployed.
- Cleaning, Greening & Maintenance: Teams work daily throughout the precinct to keep public spaces looking their best through litter collection, landscaping, grass cutting, garden maintenance, infrastructure repairs and general upkeep.
- Precinct Management & Urban Enhancement: Beyond daily operations, the UIP undertakes a variety of improvement projects aimed at enhancing public spaces and supporting the visitor experience. Recent initiatives have included promenade bench upgrades and trader umbrella installations.
