Preparing for Summer with Renewed Gardens and Ongoing Maintenance

Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance

The Ballito UIP Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance team has kept the precinct in excellent condition over the past few weeks, with visible progress across a number of projects as we begin shifting into summer mode. The area is generally in great shape, thanks to the dedication of the team.

General upkeep and vegetation control

Routine sweeping across the precinct has ensured public areas remain neat and welcoming. The team has also been busy pruning palm fronds, cutting back vegetation, and watering the newly installed gardens. Grass cutting has now returned to a regular schedule following the colder months, ensuring verges and open spaces remain well maintained. We have also used approximately 3,800 dog waste bags and close to 3,500 refuse bags this month, reflecting the scale of our daily cleaning and waste management efforts.

Infrastructure repairs and upgrades

Several important repairs and upgrades were completed this month. Highlights include:

  • 12 bollards replaced in the Business Park
  • 7 manhole covers painted
  • Curbing on Ballito Drive repainted
  • 3 paving repairs completed in the lower precinct
  • 2 damaged stop signs attended to β€” one repaired and one replaced
  • 23 minor potholes repaired across the precinct
  • Post-and-rail fencing repairs along the promenade
  • New signage installed on the promenade

Garden care and revamps

Two gardens were fully revamped this month, while others received regular attention to maintain their health and presentation. One standout project was the verge at the hospital, where new plants and compost created a vibrant and refreshed look. These updates, supported by ongoing watering and mulching, reflect the team’s commitment to long-term sustainability and improved public space aesthetics.
