The Ballito UIP Cleaning and Greening Team has continued to uphold high service standards throughout April, responding efficiently to both weather-driven challenges and ongoing precinct upkeep. Their focus this month has been on road repairs, beach clean-ups, vegetation control, and infrastructure maintenance, contributing to the overall cleanliness and safety of the precinct.
Road and paving repairs
This month saw the successful repair of major potholes on Douglas Crowe Drive and the area behind the Ballito Junction Centre. In addition, the team completed ongoing minor pothole repairs throughout the precinct to ensure safer travel for all road users.
On the pedestrian front, paving repairs were carried out on the Douglas Crowe sidewalk, restoring walkability and appearance in this high-footfall area.
Curbing and fencing upgrades
Two large stretches of curbing were repainted, one on Ballito Drive before the BP traffic circle, and the other between Engen and Tiger Wheel & Tyreโimproving road visibility and overall presentation.
In response to damage caused by two separate vehicle incidents, the P445 fence was successfully repaired, restoring an important safety feature along this busy roadway.
Beach and garden maintenance
Post-rain, debris removal from Ballitoโs beaches was prioritised, along with ongoing weeding to maintain the visual appeal of gardened areas. Consistent rainfall also meant that grass cutting remained a key focus, and the team managed the increased growth efficiently across the precinct.
Litter control and waste management
Thanks to ongoing public area cleaning efforts, approximately 3,200 refuse bags were used during April, highlighting the teamโs commitment to keeping the precinct clean and welcoming for both residents and visitors.
The Ballito UIP remains committed to delivering quality public space management to support our vision of Ballito as a sought-after warm water destination on the North Coast. Thank you to our dedicated Cleaning and Greening team for their continued contribution to maintaining the precinct to a high standard.
