Security groups operating in the Ballito area combined forces yesterday, 1 July 2021, to monitor and apprehend a group of suspects operating in a local shopping mall.
CPA Security sounded the alert to the presence of a VW Polo which had been identified in a previous commission of thefts in the Hillcrest, Ballito and Durban areas. Members of the group responded by taking up several observation points around the parked vehicle after three female suspects were left at the mall. During this time one female suspect was arrested by in-store security with R3300 of stolen stock. The other two suspects entered the parked car and proceeded to a nearby garage where two male suspects were waiting. The vehicle was blocked in by the SAPS Umhlali Task Team, their K9 Unit and other security service providers. More arrests were made for other cases pertaining to shoplifting.
