With the rainy season approaching, the Ballito UIP Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance team ramped up their efforts in September to ensure the precinct remains well cared for and resilient.
Core upkeep and garden care
This month, the team focused on the fundamentals that keep Ballito looking clean and inviting. Grass cutting, sweeping, litter collection, and the pruning of vegetation were carried out extensively across the precinct. In addition, gardens were weeded and replanted, helping to maintain healthy, attractive spaces that can withstand the coming months of higher rainfall.
Infrastructure repairs and upgrades
Alongside routine upkeep, several important infrastructure projects were completed:
-
10 bollards replaced in the precinct
-
5 pavers were installed and 4 others replaced
-
Manhole covers repainted in the Ballito Business Park
-
Post-and-rail fencing repairs along the promenade
-
22 minor potholes repaired across the area
These upgrades contribute to both safety and aesthetics, ensuring Ballito’s public spaces remain functional and welcoming.
Daily operations and waste management
In terms of consumables, the team used just over 4,100 dog waste bags and nearly 3,550 refuse bags during September. These figures highlight the high activity levels across the precinct and reflect the dedication of the team to maintaining daily cleanliness standards.
The Ballito UIP remains committed to consistent upkeep and proactive maintenance, ensuring the precinct is well prepared for the holiday season and continues to thrive as a sought-after warm-water destination on the North Coast.
