Focused cleaning, greening, and maintenance ahead of the festive season

Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance

November was a busy and productive month for the Ballito UIP Cleaning, Greening, and Maintenance (CGM) team. With the festive season approaching, efforts have been geared towards refining public spaces, ensuring they remain safe, attractive and ready to welcome residents and holidaymakers.

This month is also a special milestone for the Ballito UIP as we celebrate 10 years of precinct management. As part of this celebration, we will soon be sharing a visual “before and after” portfolio showcasing the transformation of Ballito over the past decade. Watch this space for the full reveal.

Garden upgrades and infrastructure care

A newly planted garden in the Lower CBD has added renewed vibrancy to the area. The team also completed essential post and rail repairs and replacements along the promenade to enhance both safety and visual appeal.

Stairway and plank repairs continued throughout the month, alongside the weeding of hard surfaces — crucial tasks as pedestrian traffic increases over the festive period.

Ongoing maintenance and seasonal improvements

General cleaning and greening remained a priority. Grass cutting, garden weeding, replanting and the addition of new plants helped shape a refreshed, well-maintained environment throughout the precinct.

Ablution facilities at Hawkins car park and Salmon Bay also received dedicated cleaning to ensure they remain in excellent condition for beachgoers.

Daily upkeep and waste management

Infrastructure care continued with 15 minor potholes repaired in November. Daily litter removal and waste management remained consistent, with the team using nearly 3,400 refuse bags. Dog waste bag dispensers were topped up regularly, with close to 4,150 dog waste bags used across the precinct.

Ready for the holiday season

As we approach the busiest time of the year, the Ballito UIP team remains committed to maintaining a clean, green and welcoming environment for all who live in, work in and visit Ballito. Our combined efforts — together with the support of our stakeholders — ensure the precinct continues to thrive.
