The Ballito UIP Cleaning and Greening Team has been hard at work throughout February, ensuring the precinct remains well-maintained, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike. This month’s efforts focused heavily on weeding, vegetation clearing, infrastructure repairs, and general maintenance to keep Ballito looking its best.
Below are 2 images of Wakenshaw gardens, illustrating how the palms, plants and lawn have matured in the past 18 months.
Garden maintenance and litter control
Weeding has been a primary focus, with significant progress made in ensuring the precinct’s gardens and public spaces remain neat and well-kept. In addition, our team has worked tirelessly to keep public areas clean, using approximately 3,200 refuse bags throughout the month.
To maintain a clean and enjoyable environment for all, our dog waste bag dispensers along the Promenade continue to be stocked daily, helping to encourage responsible pet ownership.
Vegetation clearing and infrastructure repairs
The team has been busy with grass cutting, vegetation clearing, and removing palm fronds and debris across the precinct. These efforts play a crucial role in keeping Ballito’s public spaces tidy and accessible.
Road and paving repairs
Our maintenance efforts in February included pothole repairs, with:
- 17 minor potholes and six major potholes attended to across the precinct.
- Curbing repairs completed around two traffic circles.
- Paving repairs carried out at the M4 and P445 intersection.
Stormwater drain and ablution facility maintenance
- A stormwater drain repair was completed on Compensation Beach Road, with another scheduled for later this month.
- Ablution facilities at Salmon Bay and Hawkins Parking received a fresh coat of paint, further enhancing these public amenities.
Ongoing commitment to maintenance and improvement
Our teams remain committed to continuous upkeep of the precinct, ensuring that Ballito remains a sought-after warm water destination on the North Coast. The work carried out this month reflects our dedication to cleanliness, safety, and infrastructure maintenance as we move into the year ahead.
