As Ballito prepares to welcome visitors for the 57th edition of the Ballito Pro Presented by OβNeill at the beginning of July, the Ballito UIP has focused on ensuring the precinct is clean, functional, and ready for increased activity along the coastline.
While the event brings global attention and energy to the area, the work behind the scenes remains firmly focused on maintaining high-quality public spaces that residents, businesses, and visitors can enjoy every day.
Key Upgrades: 20 Upgraded Promenade Benches & 18 New Moja Cart Umbrellas
In the lead-up to the event, several key upgrades have been implemented to improve the functionality and visual appeal of shared public spaces. Work is underway to replace 20 public benches along the promenade, upgrading older wooden seating to durable recycled plastic alternatives.
In addition, 18 heavy-duty umbrellas have been replaced across Moja Cart, trader, and beachfront public areas. These upgrades contribute to more comfortable spaces and support the overall event environment.
Cleaning & Security Ramps Up
Behind the scenes, the Ballito UIP continues to work closely with KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the precinct. This collaborative approach is particularly important during major events, where increased foot traffic places additional demand on infrastructure and services.
During the Ballito Pro period, cleaning operations will be intensified, with teams deployed daily from 6am to ensure public areas remain clean. Additional security support will also be in place to assist with monitoring high-traffic areas and maintaining a safe environment.
Investing in Shared Spaces
As part of this yearβs Ballito Pro presence, the Ballito UIP will also be activating on-site in collaboration with the #LoveNorthCoast movement. Ten co-branded beach umbrellas will be positioned across key areas, adding both visibility and vibrancy to the beachfront. In addition, #LoveNorthCoast promoters will be engaging directly with visitors, encouraging them to follow and support the destination marketing initiative. This activation not only enhances the event atmosphere but also reinforces Ballitoβs position as a proudly promoted coastal destination.
While the Ballito Pro is a highlight on the events calendar, the Ballito UIP’s focus extends beyond the event itself. Ongoing investment in public infrastructure, maintenance, and urban management ensures that the precinct continues to deliver a positive experience long after the event concludes.
