Ballito shines ahead of summer with park revamps and precinct repairs

Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance

October was a productive month across the Ballito precinct, with visible progress in several key areas and preparations already underway for the upcoming festive season. The arrival of spring rains brought a renewed burst of greenery, and the Ballito UIP team responded swiftly to maintain landscaping standards and ensure the precinct remains clean, safe, and attractive.

Ongoing cleaning and greening efforts

Daily service delivery remained a top priority throughout October. Over 3,780 refuse bags and nearly 4,100 dog waste bags were used, a testament to the team’s dedication in keeping the precinct clean and litter-free each morning.

Core activities included grass cutting, weeding of gardens, and trimming back of vegetation throughout the precinct. Routine road surface repairs and minor pothole fixes also took place, contributing to overall safety and accessibility for road users.

Infrastructure and public space improvements

The team also completed a range of key infrastructure and maintenance projects, including:

  • 25 minor pothole repairs
  • 8 bollards replaced
  • 5 new paving sections installed
  • Localised road surface repairs within the Business Park

A key highlight for the month was the revamp of the new public park near the Ballito Tourism office, which included:

  • Repainting of the “Welcome to Ballito” sign
  • Replanting of gardens and new landscaping
  • Replacement and treatment of pavers
  • Installation of new curbing and fresh stone
  • Grass trimming and edging to enhance the area’s appearance

The newly revamped space offers a clean, vibrant, and welcoming first impression for visitors entering Ballito.

Looking ahead

As preparations for the festive season continue, the Ballito UIP remains committed to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, greening, and maintenance throughout the precinct — ensuring Ballito continues to shine as a sought-after warm-water destination on the North Coast.
