Back to Basics: 26 Bollards, 16 Potholes & More

Cleaning, Greening and Maintenance

February marked a strong return to the fundamentals for the Ballito UIP team – ensuring that small tasks don’t go unnoticed.

Daily maintenance

Our team dedicated the month to reinforcing core maintenance operations, ensuring that sweeping, verge care, litter collection and infrastructure upkeep were carried out.

In addition to daily operations, key focus areas received extra attention:

  • A major sweeping drive across the precinct – with a concentrated push on the P445 V-drains, resulting in a significant and visible improvement.
  • Removal of palm fronds along Ballito Drive – improving both safety and the overall aesthetic of this key route.
  • Balustrade repairs in Hawkins car park near Hops.
  • Salmon Bay and Hawkins car park ablutions were cleaned up and repainted.
  • Curbing was repainted on Ballito Drive.
  • 20 x Bollards were installed on Moffatt Drive.
  • 6 Bollards were repaired/replaced on both Moffatt Drive and Douglas Crowe.
  • 16 x minor potholes were repaired around the area.

In addition to the above, close to 4150 dog waste bags have been used, as well as around 3950 refuse bags removed.

These targeted interventions not only improve day-to-day functionality but also contribute to the polished, professional environment that defines the Ballito precinct.

Special project

The Ballito UIP recently completed asphalt repairs along Douglas Crowe Drive as part of our ongoing infrastructure improvement programme. The resurfaced sections have enhanced driving conditions, and the roadway looks significantly better. We are aware of the two nasty potholes that have recently developed as a result of the heavy rains, and we will be attending to these as soon as possible.

Excellent seawater quality

Our weekly water testing programme once again showed excellent seawater quality across the precinct throughout February – great news for residents, visitors and local businesses who enjoy and rely on Ballito’s coastal environment.

As we move further into the year, the CGM team remains committed to maintaining high standards, delivering consistent service and protecting the quality and appeal of Ballito’s public spaces.
