The Ballito UIP Cleaning, Greening, and Maintenance Team has been diligently working throughout August to maintain and enhance the beauty and functionality of our precinct. Our efforts are focused on keeping the area clean, green, and well-maintained, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all residents and visitors.
Keeping Ballito Clean and Green
Throughout the month, our team has utilized close to 3,400 refuse bags to manage waste around the precinct. Additionally, over 4,000 dog waste bags have been used, highlighting our commitment to keeping public spaces clean and hygienic for everyone.
Key cleaning and greening tasks completed include:
- Grass Cutting: Regular grass cutting has been carried out across the precinct, ensuring that all green spaces remain neat and well-kept.
- Sweeping and Weeding of Gardens: Our team has focused on sweeping the area and weeding gardens to maintain their appearance and health.
- Pruning of Vegetation: Vegetation around the precinct has been carefully pruned where needed, helping to maintain clear pathways and enhance the overall aesthetic of the area.
- Litter Collection: Continuous litter collection efforts have ensured that the precinct remains clean and welcoming.
- Signage Repairs: We have repaired and levelled signs throughout the precinct, ensuring that they are visible and in good condition.
Infrastructure Repairs and Special Projects
Our team has also addressed several important infrastructure issues this month:
- Catch Pit and Stormwater Drain Repairs: We replaced two catch pit drains and covers at Hawkins Car Park and Foch Le Roux, as well as three stormwater drain covers across the precinct. These repairs are crucial for maintaining effective drainage and preventing flooding.
- Bollard Replacement: Two displaced bollards have been securely replaced, ensuring safety and order within the precinct.
- Kerbing Repairs: Seven new kerbs were installed as part of our ongoing efforts to maintain road safety and infrastructure integrity.
- Concrete Rubble Removal: Concrete rubble was removed from the P445 area, further enhancing the cleanliness and safety of our precinct.
Looking Ahead: Special Projects
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are excited to announce a special project: the replacement of a stairway to the beach, which is scheduled for completion in September.
